This sketch was actually a study from a photo that my mum wanted to do a painting from. I saw the painting in process, but as far as I know it was never completed.
One un-helpful “critic” who saw the painting in progress suggested the woman should be much smaller and the gas pump behind her should be made much larger and more interesting. This self-absorbed advice was ignored very well, of course.
